I have been working as a psychotherapist in West Virginia since 1992. I have worked throughout north central West Virginia in a variety of settings providing services to a variety of individuals and families. I have over 28 years experience as a psychotherapist. The first 10 years of my career was spent providing outpatient treatment for addiction. The last 18 years I have been providing psychotherapy for the treatment of addiction and psychological disorders in general. The experiences I have had as a therapy provider have enabled me to be a generalist with the ability to address many types of problems and diagnoses.
I was born and raised in Minnesota. My family moved to West Virginia in 1988 when I was in the middle of my education in Minnesota. I received my BA in psychology from St. Cloud State University (SCSU) in St. Cloud, MN. I also completed the Chemical Dependency Certificate Program at SCSU. I received my MA in clinical psychology from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State) in Mankato, MN. I moved to West Virginia in 1992 after I finished my education to be near my family. I soon called West Virginia my home and have made my career here.
I am certified in the State of West Virginia as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and as a Licensed Psychologist. I have taught psychology classes as adjunct faculty for Fairmont State University and I have provided supervision to those seeking licensure.
